Jay and I often speak about “identifying data” to our clients and to audiences at global conferences. Our topics tend to focus on the data all around us and how it is being leveraged in the world, but we didn’t start here.
We are obsessive about data and how it is gathered and utilized and we continue to learn of new ways this is happening every day.
This is a never-ending journey of discovery, not creation. The world is not creating data, not really. All that is happening is that the world is uncovering new forms of data.
“Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it…”
– Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni
Data is the same way. It is all around us, describing every aspect of our lives, our existence, and we are just uncovering it, setting it free or choosing to hide it deeper.
Becoming DataSmart is easy. It’s two parts curiosity and one part paranoia. If you are even slightly curious about the data around you, the unseen world of information that follows us like ghosts, and predicts our future like a soothsayer, you can develop the skills to be DataSmart.
DataSmart.Life is dedicated to the daily discovery of data all around us. Our goal is to have a dialogue with you about what we are discovering and to hear about what you are learning as well.
